Regina King made an interesting choice for the advance screening of her Shirley Chisholm biopic in Brooklyn the other night.
Perhaps we should say “odd” instead of “interesting,” because we honestly don’t know what to make of a floor-length semi-sheer trench coat worn with a gigantic feather boa. We have to give her a lot of credit, though. Such is the power of her bearing that this doesn’t look nearly as weird as it should. We think the hair, makeup and earrings do a lot to pull focus from that super-weird (seriously, it gets weirder the longer we look at it) getup.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
SHIRLEY tells the story of the first Black congresswoman and political icon, Shirley Chisholm, and her trailblazing run for president of the U.S. It chronicles her audacious, boundary-breaking 1972 presidential campaign.
