Over the past two years, Naiomi worked with Ralph Lauren and his design teams to reimagine the original designs of her woven art into a collection of three drops. Drop 2: Color in Motion reflects Naiomi’s love of skateboarding and her artistic evolution into colorful weavings.
“Incredibly grateful to be the inaugural Ralph Lauren Artist in Residence and to bring y’all the second drop(!!) of the Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses collection.
This drop celebrates the sportiness we all have in ourselves. I want this collection to inspire you to go out there and feel like you can do anything. I want people to look at this as a chance to see color and not run away from it; instead, wholeheartedly embrace it.
This collection is my dedication to a young Naiomi. It felt like a homecoming of sorts since I was born in Mesa and raised in Avondale until I was 12, I’ll always see the Valley of The Sun (Phoenix, AZ) as a second home. It was incredible seeing the friends I’ve made across the country come together in a place so familiar to me, all while being beautifully captured by Ryan RedCorn and Daryn Sells.
This collection celebrates the joy and youthfulness of color in motion, there’s so much love in seeing this come to life on the friends I’ve made and as I continually cheer on in all of their endeavors.
