At the NAACP Image Awards, Taraji P. Henson picked up a trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her fine work in The Color Purple. Congratulations to her. Now let’s judge her dress. It’s highly judgeable.
Florence Pugh wore a similar design from Del Core to the Oscars last week. We had quibbles then and we have quibbles now. Most of them come down to the color. That lemony yellow doesn’t make as good a backdrop for the raindrop beading as Flo’s greyish dress did. But that’s honestly much less of an issue to us than the design and shape of it. It just looks too gimmicky and borderline costumey to us. Are we wrong. Go ahead, you can tell us.
