We’re looking forward to Scoop, the behind-the-scenes dramatization of the infamous Prince Andrew Newsnight interview, less so for the subject matter than the cast. Rufus Sewell is fantastic casting as Prince Andrew and we’re looking forward to whatever weird energy is generated by the pairing of Gillian Anderson and Billie Piper.
Just their choice of outfits alone makes us want to see how they play off each other.
GILLIAN ANDERSON
A strapless tweed dress is a very weird thing, but the color’s nice and the fit’s impressive. It’s nowhere near the most interesting or exciting thing she’s worn on a red carpet, but this is a Netflix premiere, so it’s fine.
RUFUS SEWELL
Also fine for a Netflix premiere. He’s got great hair.
BILLIE PIPER IN DOLCE & GABBANA
We would expect no less from her. The general style really suits her. If anything, it represents a toning down for her. The jacket’s fine and the shorts are actually pretty cute in a cheeky way, but the top is awkward and we hate that it has a train.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Inspired by real events, SCOOP is the inside account of the tenacious journalism that landed an earth-shattering interview – Prince Andrew’s (played by Rufus Sewell) infamous BBC Newsnight appearance. From the tension of producer Sam McAlister’s (played by Billie Piper) high stakes negotiations with Buckingham Palace, all the way to Emily Maitlis’ (played by Gillian Anderson) jaw dropping, forensic showdown with the Prince, SCOOP takes us inside the story, with the women who would stop at nothing to get it. To get an interview this big, you have to be bold.
