Our Oscar-ology posts are over a week away, but we’re ready to declare Rustin star Colman Domingo the finest dressed Best Supporting Actor nominee of the year, if not the finest dressed of all the Oscar nominees. The man has been bringing Black Queer Excellence to every red carpet this season and we love him for that.
At the Screen Actors Guild Awards in OFF-WHITE
Unfortunately, after that praise-heavy intro, we have to admit that this may be among the weaker looks of the season. The jacket design is interesting, but we think it was a mistake to trim the hems in black like that, especially if you’re not going to trim the cuffs to match. Also, the textile looks a little flimsy.
At the Film Independent Spirit Awards in VERSACE
This, on the other hand, is spectacular. The unusual cut of the jacket is interesting, although we suspect most men wouldn’t be able to make it look as chic as he is. Love the shoes, love the coat, love the grooming, which is flawless.
