Barbie star and Best Supporting Actress nominee America Ferrera continues to make the most of this time in her career. The most ambitious and productive awards season campaigners know it’s often less about securing the trophy and more about securing the bag, i.e., your next round of gigs. We’re far from experts on the inner workings of Academy voters, but we get the impression they tend to like the hard-working go-getter campaigners more than the please-declare-me-worthy campaigners. The Jamie Lee Curtises over the Bradley Coopers, in other words. It’s an industry award, after all. The people who other people think they want to work with tend to get preferential treatment. All of this is a long way of saying that she’s playing the game exactly right, not necessarily for a win, but for a step up.

We featured her walking into the Kimmel studios yesterday, in a look we didn’t love. This is much better, but we don’t think those boots are the right color for that dress at all. Espresso suede, dear. Can’t go wrong with leopard.
ON LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS
This is simple but flattering and telegenic. Her hair looks fantastic.
