We interrupt all of this attention-grabbing Grammys style coverage to return to the cinema awards track, briefly. They may not have gotten the Oscar noms they deserved, but All of Us Strangers stars Paul Mescal showed up at the London Critics Circle Awards looking like winners – and then promptly picked up trophies (the film for British/Irish film of the year, Andrew for best actor, Paul for British/Irish performer of the year).
PAUL MESCAL IN HUNTSMAN
This is chic and sexy. We think we’re about to hit a trend where suits without shirts become a thing on the red carpet. Like all red carpet trends, it will almost certainly land on people not suited for it, but he practically made his name on his ability to make a thin gold chain look devastatingly hot, so this is all working nicely.
ANDREW SCOTT
We’re going to take credit for this one. Shut up. You’re delusional. Anyway, we kept saying his apparent fondness for louche, sleazy styles simply wasn’t the best choice for him and we think this fairly conventional suit proves us right. He looks great. Not everyone can pull off a chartreuse suit, but those who can should definitely give it a shot. He stands out without looking ill-suited for his outfit. The hair is a disastrous birds nest and there’s simply no reason for it to look like that. We promise a comb and a little product will not make you less of an artist, sir.
