Surprise! We said we’d try to get our podcasts up earlier in the week and dammit, we’re sticking to that. Besides, we figured we’d be exhausted by Friday, what with all of the Golden Globes reportage and opinionating. So for this week’s podcast, we batted around two of the bigger celebrity stories of the past week: Vili Fualaau slamming May December for making a movie about his life without consulting him and Gypsy Rose Blanchard engaging in a whirlwind publicity tour as a newly freed-from-prison celebrity. We have issues with both stories, but they tend to revolve around the same question: Who gets to tell their own stories? It’s a sticky subject and we do our best to unpack the nuances of each case.

PLUS: Why Barbie absolutely should be considered for the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar and why the outcry against it reveals a distinct lack of Barbie knowledge.
