Sorry, Ems. We were going to put Anjanue Ellis-Taylor’s Critics Choice Awards gown up for a vote, but we loved it too much. And we have a podcast to record today along with the miles and miles of red carpet to cover, so you’re the one who has to bear the brunt of it. We’re throwing you to the wolves, girl. Worse, we’re throwing you to the Bitter Kittens.

It’s… fine? To our way of thinking, it got wildly overshadowed by Margot Robbie’s red leather rose gown, but we can’t suggest that this looks bad on her. We’re happy to see her in a bold color, which always works best for her, but we do kinda think this gown, color aside, is a little on the bland side. We also think the rosettes look like they were fashioned out of guest towels, which tends to come off less impressive than Margot’s masterful leather roses. But whatevs! Maybe we shouldn’t be comparing the dresses at all. The good news for Emily is that our opinion isn’t going to be the deciding factor on the quality of this look. The bad news for her is that yours is. Get to work.
