Olivia Colman offered up her version of BarbieCore for the Wonka premiere in London. She dyed her blend and dressed all in black.
Considering Barbie herself reminded us that black is a Barbie color this week, we’d say she nailed it. The gown checks off all of her boxes (modesty, coverage, lack of print or embellishment, dramatic), although we’re a little surprised to see her sporting a keyhole with a sheer modesty panel covering it; a design element that doesn’t really work for us. The cape adds a nice bit of drama, as does the surprising hair change. We think the simpleness of the dress might have been a deliberate way of letting the color change have the spotlight, so to speak. It’s not our favorite of her looks and we can’t say the blonde works all that well, but it’s all very much to her tastes. Some showier jewelry might have been nice.
