The post-strike Barbie victory lap continues, to our delight. Margot Robbie got to sport yet another pink suit and joined her co-stars America Ferrera and Dua Lipa for a stylish little post-screening cocktail event in New York. All of them approached the evening from wildly different style directions.

At this point, we’re just impressed with the commitment, but as we’ve noted before, she’s made tens of millions of dollars as a producer of the film, which tends to make her hardcore adherence to the promotional cosplay more than a bit understandable. Hell, we’d dress up like Barbie a couple of times a week for that kind of bank. Who wouldn’t? Having said that, with each pink ensemble, the smile seems a little more frozen in place. The bag is tacky-cute. The sleeves are weirdly shaped.

This is an anti-Barbie look. It’s got a certain severe sort of chicness to it, but it all comes off a little dour. We’d never expect her to dress like a Barbie, and for the most part she strictly avoided it for the promo tour, but this is a bit too serious for a Barbie cocktail party. On some level, you have to take into account who you’re going to be sharing the stage with and when you’ve got Living Barbie on one side of you and Hot Pop Star on the other, maybe dressing like an art gallery owner isn’t the best way to stand out.

As you can see, the vibe was pretty loungey, so Miss Dua took more of a hit-the-club approach. We don’t love the shape of the dress and it’s way too tight across the bust. The touches of gold work. She should’ve deployed more of it.
