And now for a complete change of pace, courtesy of Andra Day. The star of Is This Thing On? surprised us with her style choices for the New York screening because she’s usually serving up pure diva turns on any red carpet she graces. Instead, she took things down several notches for this one.

We don’t hate it. New York screenings tend to be far less ostentatious than world premieres, as evidenced by the Regional Managers Conference-style “posterboard on an easel” backdrop. No one’s paying for a massive, corporate-branded scrim for these things so no one should expect stars to show up in couture gowns. These are small, quiet affairs with far fewer attendees and usually only a handful of photographers. We’d rate her efforts as on point for the occasion. Activewear can be styled-up to look appropriate for any casual-dressy setting. Our only suggestion for this look is to switch the leather jacket out for a coat, just to dress it up further.
