It pains us to say it, but Michelle Yeoh got this one tragically wrong. The star of A Haunting in Venice hit the red carpet in Hong Kong for the 60th anniversary celebration of the Mandarin Oriental in a pretty spectacular Valentino gown that does not come off spectacular on her.
It’s not always fair to compare a runway model to a so-called “real” person, but one look at the runway shot below and you can see what this gown was meant to be: slinky, shimmery, sexy and light. Unfortunately, it comes off heavy and shapeless here. Part of this could have been mitigated by a good fitting session, but the main issue with the look is the rather inexplicable choice of nearly opaque black tights. This is a gown that calls for either a bare leg or a very sheer pair of hose. Still, we think the real problem here is that this just isn’t her dress. Even with the correct fit and pair of stockings, we can’t see this as the best sort of style for her.
