We love what Michaela Coel wore to the BFI London Film Festival premiere of The Kitchen but we also kind of hate it a little? You see our dilemma here. We’re turning the final call on this one over to y’all.

Like, that is a goofy-ass frock with the kinds of design elements that make our eyelids twitch furiously, no denying it. If you’ve read us for any length of time, you might have picked up on the fact that we don’t like tricky skirts (reserving a special hatred for the tricky variety with wildly asymmetrical hems) and we rarely like random side cutouts. Put the two together in the same frock and you’d think we’d be shrieking about how much we hate it. But damn if this lady isn’t working the hell out of it. We tend to think she could’ve gone with a little more makeup to dress it up a little, but we LOVE the hair and the boots. They tend to make the look, as far as we’re concerned. So even though we love the look (with little sprinklings of hate just to keep our opinion interesting), we’re going to let you make the final call on this one. Is this all too tricky or is she just the person to make it all look fabulous? In other words…
