We still have plenty of VMAs main event red carpet looks to assess today, but we had to take a moment to shine another spotlight on Tay, partially because we rarely get to and partially because we want you to see her salute to early ’90s mall fashion.

It’s VMAs night, all bets are off on the fashion front. We think this is perhaps a little preciously styled, but we can’t get mad at it. The dress is really cute. We don’t even mind the raw hem, probably because the rest of it is so clearly well-constructed. Personally, we don’t think the hair and makeup are doing it for the dress. Given the jewelry and shoes choices, however, we think she really is shooting for a sort of Tacky Chic vibe, in which case she nailed it. We’d love to see someone take that dress in a different style direction. It seems pretty interpretable.
