The models were modeling at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Pot-au-Feu. A few ladystars managed to get themselves seen among the phalanx of professional dress-wearers, but Cannes has a long tradition of inviting fashion models to glitz up their red carpets even further. We tend to focus on the entertainers, but we thought we’d give these hard-working strutters their due this time.

This is pretty much why you invite models to Cannes. They’ll show up in the most outrageous drag and they’ll pose like they’re vying for the cover of Vogue. This doesn’t even look like a D&G design to us.

When you invite models, you’re also more likely to see fashion pieces that no actress or even pop star would want to attempt. This is hilarious. We rarely get to see Viktor & Rolf designs off the runway.

And they’re never afraid to be insanely dramatic and focus-pulling. It’s literally why they’re there. This gown is honestly kind of hideous but it’s impressive how hard she’s selling it.

This is gorgeous, restrained, and chic.

It’s pretty in that duvet-cover way that’s so popular right now, but that bust design is genuinely odd.

Chic, French, and very House of Dior. We love this, but we don’t think the gloves add anything to it.

We love this tacky diva. She’s not making us believe that sheer beaded shorts with a train are a good idea, but we’re delighted that she made the attempt.

It manages to be sleek and overdesigned at the same time, but she’s really well suited to it. We’d like it better without the cutouts, though.

Stunning, although we like the skirt better from the back. That green looks amazing.
