Big smiles and rigid conformity! Prince William and Catherine Princess of Wales made their first public appearance of the year and the first since Prince Harry’s explosive memoir Spare was released and they kept themselves a tightly cohesive unit of royalty, as is Cathy’s way.

They’re so aggressively matched that we’re a little surprised he was allowed to wear brown shoes. Then again, we think he only owns three suits and a couple of pairs of shoes, judging by his exceedingly dull public style. She looks good. It’s classic Cathy. Even when she wears colors, she somehow makes them seem like neutrals. Belting a ribbed knit dress is a very brave thing to do. A reporter shouted a question about the book at them, but their selective royal hearing didn’t allow it to reach their ears, evidently.
