We’ve been wondering when – or if – Pam & Tommy star Lily James will ever start wandering away from the sexy-tacky-glam styles she sported throughout the promotional tour for the series. It was a pretty sharp style turn for her when she started embracing her inner Pam, so we couldn’t quite tell if it was part of a style evolution or just a smart branding exercise. Looking at her Versace ensemble for the Golden Globes, we’d say she’s still Pamming it up a bit.
She responds really well to the kind of over-the-top sexy drama of the average Versace, but the design here is kind of terrible. There’s “voluminous” and then there’s “wearing a sleeping bag.” The skirt comes a little too close to the latter. It’s just too heavy-looking. To be fair, we might have liked the skirt more if the top wasn’t such a mess. The bandeau sits a little too low and those criss-cross straps are such a bad design element that we don’t know how they made it off the dress form.
