Michelle Pfeiffer’s been at the movie stardom game so long that it almost feels condescending to say that she knows what she’s doing. She’s certainly never needed our advice in order to step out looking great, that’s for sure. For her Tonight Show visit, she returned to her go-to design house and did her own hair and makeup, because that’s how a star does things.

The results were chic in a way that felt effortless. We’re not fully in love with the lace cuffs, but the look has such a classic simplicity to it – down to the black hose and pumps – that we don’t  mind the little bit of frippery. It’s just a quietly great look that really plays to her strengths, in the manner of someone who knows who she is and what she’s about.
