Evidently it was all the rage to show up to the Jimmy Kimmel studio in head-to-toe leather last week. Kristen Bell went the neon route when she stopped by while She Said star Carey Mulligan defaulted to her go-to color of basic black for her outing.
Is that studio unusually cold or something? While it makes perfect sense for an actress promoting a film about the Weinstein scandal to avoid a lot of sexy promo fashion, this strikes us as more of a representation of Carey’s true style preferences. She dislikes fuss and exposure. The problem is that, in avoiding those things she tends to land on some of the blandest, unstyled looks you’ll ever see. This is why we’re inclined to give this whole ensemble the thumbs up even though we think it’s heavy and big on her with some strange proportions. It may be all of those things, but the one thing it’s not is bland. Since her style tends to wind up landing on boring more often than not, we’ll take an odd outfit full of personality over a perfectly acceptable one that’s instantly forgettable.
