While you wait breathlessly for today’s podcast, why not occupy your time judging a celebrity red carpet look? This was a slightly manipulative way of revealing that we’re currently recording today’s podcast so we’re just gonna turn the judging on this one over to you. Bridgerton star Simone Ashley is a bona fide stunner, but we haven’t always loved her red carpet style, which overuses what we call The Dockery Maneuver. That’s when an actress who makes her name in a period piece feels the need to dress as hot and as up-to-the-minute modern as she can every chance she gets, named after the lady who perfected it, Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery. Brace yourselves, because we’re as far from the ladylike pastel-colored confections of “The Ton” as you can get:
