Allison Janney has a new action movie out in which she makes the case for more movies about lady ass-kickers in their sixties. With all due respect to her, this is not how we would have advised her to dress in order to promote it.
We’ve said it before but it bears repeating: We can’t wait for the marabou feather trend to die.
Look, if she was here to promote her Auntie Mame remake, we would not only be shouting that news from the rooftops, but we would also think this outfit quite appropriate for the occasion. It’s giving wacky auntie and that’s not a terrible style if it’s done right and on the right wearer. The thing is, she’s always been great at dramatically sleek looks and we tend to think that’s her style sweet spot, rather than this draggy confection of a gown. Worse, we think the style is so tired; a retread of a thousand Valentino and Gucci dresses seen over the last five years. The earrings are nice, but we don’t think the black pumps do much for it. And to be fair, it does look like a lot of fun when she’s seated. We don’t hate it, but we don’t think it’s the best style for her and we’ve seen too many variations of it.
