Most of the cast of The Phoenician Scheme came out for the New York premiere, but because that cost largely comprises male actors who aren’t exactly known for their impeccable high style, we’re skipping all of them and just featuring castmates Scarlett Johansson and Mia Threapleton.
Although if we’re being brutally honest, we’re not sure either of these looks would merit a spotlight post on a busier day. Not that there’s anything wrong with either look, but we’re a little surprised how unstylish this promo tour has been, given what’s being promoted. A Wes Anderson film is an opportunity to have a little fun with your red carpet style.

Then again, if you’re a newly minted ingenue and this is your first big film, we can understand why you’d opt for a relatively conservative and straightforward style for your promo work. The design here is pretty basic (and nearly identical to Scarlett’s), but the color really sings on her. It’s nice to see a subtle, rich shade on a red carpet. Everyone always defaults to navy or black when they want to go dark, but there’s a whole range of high-contrast tones for the pale folk to indulge in. The makeup, jewelry and mani are all on point, but that severe hair is doing little for her.

It’s a decent dress and we appreciate that it’s in such a bold color, but we’re afraid the shade photographs kind of harshly.
