Lizzo got one step closer to a potential EGOT by snagging her first Emmy for her show Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Girls. She gave a funny and poignant speech about looking for the big beautiful Black women on TV and ultimately deciding that it would have to be her stepping up to represent that demo. As for the fashion, Lizzo did what Lizzo always does, in practically everything she does. She brought the party with her.
That couldn’t possibly be more Lizzo in style; bold, exuberant, space-taking, and unforgettable, but above all else, totally fun. The short skirt and defined waist do a lot to keep her from looking like a pile of fabric and she was smart to keep the styling relatively low-key. It would be so easy to get overwhelmed by a dress like this, but she’s so good at working these over-the top silhouettes.
