We were surprised to learn that this was a Michael Kors jawn. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but in terms of design, it’s even more basic than Mr. Kors’ usual love of the classic. The textile is gorgeous and we’re surprised to admit that the watteau back train strikes us as the best part. We really don’t like short skirts with trains nine times out of ten, though. We’d like this a lot more with a full length skirt, although that might have been too heavy for Capri in July. We’re also not loving that distracting waist seam. Then again, this whole dress feels like it’s supposed to remain in the background while those jewels do all the work.

We think that flower at the waist comes very close to ruining an eye-catching design. This looks lovely on her and we’re surprised by how much we love the shape. Maybe it’s because it all comes off so light and ethereal. A jellyfish dress. It didn’t need that distracting blotch of orange at all.
