And now, a salute to the Oscar campaigning style evolution of Ariana DeBose who has steadily streamlined and mainstreamed her style choices as the buzz around her West Side Story performance has increased. We’ll be giving her the “Ology” post treatment the week of the Oscars, but until then, suffice it to say that her style has gone from loud and flamboyant to “I’m running to improve our schools and drinking water and I’d like your vote.”
This is softly glamorous and lightly profesh. We don’t necessarily think she’s tamping down on her natural style instincts here. She’s just playing the game as it’s meant to be played. If she started coming out in super-girly princess dresses, we might have raised an eyebrow, but she’s shown a preference for brightly colored pantsuits all along. This is just, as we said, a streamlining and mainstreaming of her usual style. Her makeup is gorgeous and we love the sandals.
