As we’ve noted many a time over the years, Kristen Stewart’s fashion superpower is that she can take fusty old designs and make them look punk with nothing more than a beat face and a lot of attitude. It’s why Karl Lagerfeld loved her so much. She could make Chanel granny suits come off like some sort of rebellion. Unfortunately, even the grand master has limits.
There is nothing more tired than the dress made to look like foundation garments. We’ll give Brandon Maxwell some credit for being at least a tiny bit original by attaching a bedspread to it and calling it a skirt, but the design is dull, dingy and awkward overall. She’s doing her best to charm the cameras into making it look good, but not even she can elevate this awful frock.
