Pop Style Opinionfest: Disney, Dukes, and Dolce & Gabbana: How to Cover a Problematic World

Posted on March 11, 2022

It’s been a problematic week for things that begin with D, darlings! The Duke of Cambridge stuck his foot in his mouth – or did he? Disney promotes diversity – or do they?

You should watch The Tourist. We’ll tell you why – and only about 75% of the conversation amounts to “Because Jamie Dornan is just so easy to look at.”

If you’re into foul-mouthed comedy from the surprisingly good Courteney Cox, we think you might want to watch her new series Shining Vale. We’ll tell you why, and we only spend a little time saying “Because they say ‘fuck’ a lot!”

We weigh in on the problematic Disney response to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill and the Cambridges’ problematic response to the Ukraine invasion — but not in entirely the way you might think! We also manage to work in a bit about Dolce & Gabbana AND J.K. Rowling — all under the larger topic of How Things Get Covered in independent media and why we cover the things we do or choose not to cover the things we don’t.

Thanks for listening to our rambles, darlings!
