The good news: Spencer star Kristen Stewart takes a break from the relentless Chanel-wearing that has characterized her awards season campaigning (and most of her red carpet history, since she’s got a contract with the House). The bad news?
It’s the least interesting thing she’s worn in years AND it’s from Dolce & Gabbana. Girl, why’d you have to go and wear them?
We won’t sit here and act like she looks terrible. It’s dull, but it’s pretty. Her hair and makeup are doing all the work of selling it. A dress like this begs for more jewels and sparkle, but that’s not really her style, which makes a pretty good argument against her wearing the dress at all. It feels very “Oscar campaign” in that way that more or less forces any star with even the slightest edge to their style to tamp down on their self expression. There’s no sin being committed here, but it’s all a bit of a letdown.
