“House of Gucci” Star Jared Leto in Saint Laurent on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”

At this point, there probably isn’t anything Jared Leto could do in terms of his style choices that would surprise us. Even so, of all the personae he could be cycling through, of all the looks he could be adopting right now, we don’t think we’d ever have predicted this latest turn.

This is a look and a style that’s so specific, we’d probably assume any other actor wearing it on a talk show had just come from a set and left their costume on. But Jared Leto, whatever else you might think of him, is a man who knows and understands his style references and plays around with them exactly like costumes, whether he’s doing the Pixie Jesus thing or the “coke dealer at Studio 54” thing or the rockstar thing. He chooses a persona and then he perfectly executes it through style. This one’s new and we hope we see more of him going forward.

But look at us, going on and on, assuming you all see the reference. It’s “Gay hairstylist in 1992,” of course. Welcome to the Leto style pantheon, sir.
