Sometimes, when a girl makes a splash in a period melodrama – especially one where English accents are involved – sometimes, that girl needs to strike while the iron is hot and put her period melodrama face to good use while the offers are flying. Miss Phoebe, hot off last year’s hit first season of Bridgerton, bobbed her hair for some pre-War feminist melodrama as iconic English ceramist Clarice Cliff in The Colour Room. Smartly, she’s dressed as far away from period finery as she could get while still looking red carpet-ready:
Well. Sort of red carpet-ready, we guess. We really do think it’s smart for an actress in her position to remind everyone she’s a 21st Century girl (and up for playing 21st Century girl parts) as much as possible. We actually do like the modernity of this and don’t really mind a pair of jeans on a red carpet. But there’s no denying it looks like 2/3 of a gown worn over a pair of pants and that can be tough to support. We respect the choice more than we love the style, but you get to make the final call on this one.
