Oh, thank God. We were starting to get worried that the orange face and art teacher smock look was going to become a thing with him. But Benedict Cumberbatch has two very different films opening with presumably two very different audiences in mind and he’s been at this game long enough to know two things. You need to keep things a little flexible in your promo style, but you should also know when to return to your sweet spot.
Not that a formal black suit with a white shirt and black tie is all that interesting. Truth be told, we think there are much better conventional male suiting choices that would be perfect for him and give him that classic British menswear style that looks so good on him. Still, it’s nice to see him return to a classic (and scrub the bronzer off his face).
We kinda love that she takes full advantage of the style opportunities a high-end red carpet affords and that she rarely chooses demure wallflower styles. This is gorgeously dramatic. This isn’t a travels-well kind of dress and you can see that at the bottom, but it’s still a great color, shape and print. It feels bold and photogenic enough for a red carpet, but it’s the kind of dress most actresses would never choose because of all the ways it can go wrong. You’ve got to be a world class dress-wearer to pull this one off, we think.
