Is “Bond Girl” an anachronism in 2021? Because we want to talk about Ana de Armas’s look at the No Time to Die premiere and we honestly don’t know how else to describe it or characterize it than pure “Bond Girl.” Tell us we’re wrong:

That’s so pure, it like’s uncut, pharmaceutical grade Bond Girl. As a design, it’s very simple and classic, but that’s pretty much the point of a Bond Girl look. You’re supposed to check off certain markers: high class, expensive, sexy, and vaguely exotic or intriguing. We think she looks great. We’re not inclined to love those massive chains on her shoulders, but they’re the one factor that turns this from a Morticia gown into an International Femme Fatale gown. If this wasn’t a Bond film premiere, we might find this a little on the boring side, but for the setting, the only way it could be more perfect is if she had a tiny little holster strapped to her thigh.

But we suppose there’s an argument that even here, a gown like this isn’t a particularly exciting or interesting choice. We tend to think that, unlike some of the other women on this red carpet, she’s there to sell this exact image at this moment, whether or not the term “Bond Girl” is problematic. So we’re putting the final call over to y’all.
