The Queen accepted a BET Lifetime Achievement Award, as is her due. She also made a weensy bit of history by giving a callout to her “love,” Eboni Nichols, with whom she had a baby in 2019. Latifah has never talked about her private life, so it’s lovely to see her feeling open enough to do so.
In slightly shallower news, she also managed to work two sickening looks for the night; one that couldn’t have been more perfectly suited to her and one that surprised us by being… well, so perfectly suited to her – but. in an unexpected way.
THOM BROWNE
She stepped onto the red carpet in the last designer we’d have thought would work for her, but the great thing about Thom Browne’s design is that they manage to be highly idiosyncratic but deceptively wearable for all different types. We love how it manages both a kickass sort of formality with a little bit of whimsy to it. She looks like a really chic witch.
CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
But she stepped onto the stage serving the purest pharmaceutical-grade DIVA you ever saw. It’s dramatic, telegenic, and regal as hell. As it should be. Congratulations, Queen. Happy Pride.
