Kittens, it was a bit of a spew-into-the-mics kind of podcast this week; not so much in the ranting sense as in the all-over-the-map sense. We sat down ostensibly to talk about the history of queer cruising, spurred on by a conversation we had about our own feelings regarding queer PDAs and how they’re inseparable from the times in which we came of age. Heady stuff! Full of references to things like Polari, the Hanky Code and even an infamous Philly cruising spot once known as Judy Garland Park!
But you know us; things are never that simple. After explaining in our newsletter about why we were staying out of the In the Heights colorism debate, we managed to still wade into it because Lorenzo wanted to talk about Rita Moreno’s comments on Colbert and why they stirred up such a passionate response. And while we can’t bring ourselves to get too far into the weeds of the other big pop culture story of the week, Chrissy Teigen’s cancellation, we did take a moment to follow up on all the Chrissy-adjacent drama stirred up by a certain attention-seeking Project Runway drama queen, and talk a bit about all of the Project Runway gossip we’ve been keeping to ourselves all these years. No major reveals here because we don’t feel like getting sued, but we were reminded of the time we met one of the aforementioned drama queens and why it caused us to back away from that world almost completely. Messy folks is all we’ll say. Messy, messy folks.
So a bit of a queer history lesson, some personal reflection, and why reality TV attracts such messy folk. Not a bad roundup!
And as always, thank you so much for listening and supporting, darlings.
