Local heroes Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi came home to Australia for the premiere of Wuthering Heights. They each continued their respective style journeys, meaning he’s in a nice suit and she’s wearing something crazy.

Did we lie?

Love everything that’s happening above the ankles. He continues to show great taste in suits and we like that he’s slowly embracing more contrast in his shirt and tie choices. We need to break that monochromatic suit trend for good. Unfortunately, he opted for white tassel loafers, which is an item that should only be found on the feet of octogenarians. We LOATHE that he chose to wear them with black socks. It looks so awful and distracting. as for Miss Thing…

We had an interesting discussion in this week’s podcast about her approach to red carpet style and how it tends to bore us. Regardless of whatever she winds up wearing, the way she approaches her public style doesn’t hold much interest to us because it’s not really about self-expression or love of style, it’s solely about promotional work. That’s her right, of course, but as we noted there tends to be a joylessness in her approach. A “Here I am, take the picture” vibe. This is more of that degraded romanticism that she’s been working throughout this tour. It’s very appropriate for the character and the themes, but like most of what she wears in public, it never feels like something she wants to wear. Anyway, the corset bodice is a boring cliche at this point and the skirt looks flimsy and cheap. The only thing that’s interesting to us here are the cuffs and the hem. They really sell that “wandering the moors” vibe.
