We’re not sure we’re going to be seeing much agreement on this, but we think if you’re Charlize Theron, Oscar-winning international movie star who can have her choice of projects, and you’re stepping out for the premiere of the latest Fast & Furious, then this:

Is just about the most perfect red carpet choice you can make. Sure, she could’ve come out in some stunning Dior gown and that would have been fine, but a fashion film this is not and she’s dressing for the audience that’s most likely to be tickets to see it rather than dressing to impress fashion people or publicists. Which isn’t to suggest that this isn’t high fashion; just that it’s deliberately “low” in style, even with the Dior tags attached. But a leather mini and a faded t-shirt is pretty much the Fast & Furious aesthetic applied to womenswear. If we have any quibbles with it, it’s only because it looks fairly dated.
