Miss Ruth has what looks to be a hell of a role to promote as the film of the groundbreaking classic 1925 novel Passing by author Nella Larsen gets its debut at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. We’d say we’re about to weep thinking about all the lost red carpet opportunities, but Sundance isn’t exactly known for its gowns or couture. Which means we’re all the more grateful for this serve:

She’s always been best served by looks that tip way over into the editorial side rather than the strictly, classically glamourous sorts of looks most actresses tend to rely on for promotional work. She routinely wears looks that are FMO (for models only) and rather difficult for any non-professional clothes-wearer to pull off. Which is to say that yes, we love this on her, turtleneck and all. There’s such a wild disconnect between the vintage-looking semi-formal skirt and the sporty modernity of the top. The black tights are the perfect addition. We’re dying to know what’s on her feet.
