Hulu’s “Happiest Season” Drive-In Premiere

Darlings, the cast of the queerest holiday rom-com you’re likely to see this year donned their gay apparel and headed to the drive-in.

There are no rules of dressing for a drive-in premiere, of course. Not yet, anyway. It’s not such a surprise that there’s a range of effort or formality on display. Besides, a holiday rom-com premiere would probably call for a relative casualness under so-called “normal” circumstances. It’s usually a great time to model sweaters and outerwear for the crowds.

The photo-taking at this events are usually kind of spotty as well. No one wants to stand alone in front of a drive-in, so group shots tend to dominate. Anyway, everyone looks fine, but we think Mary Holland did herself a favor by picking such a focus-pulling dress. Love Alison’s coat. Aubrey’s dress is okay, we guess. Very “Vegas wedding 1967,” which has a certain amount of appeal. K Stew did the bare minimum. Aside from the drag queens (lovely to see you Ben de la and Jinkx; fabulous as always), Surayu’s the only one who dressed for a holiday party. That’s a pretty cute frock.
