Miss Elle shows us the way forward.
Elle Fanning in Rodarte at “The Roads Not Taken” Photocall
See, the other day, when she stepped out in a look we can only describe as Moody Mod, we shouted our huzzahs and declared that she had finally walked away from the princess looks for good. We are, of course, completely wrong. It seems Miss Elle is still going to ride that romance train when and how it suits her to do so. This is loaded with that naive retro romanticism she’s so good at embodying, but it manages to look less like a fairy tale or fantasy costume. We could do without the collar, which is honestly kind of ugly in addition to being unnecessary.
She’s very shiny, but for all we know the heat was set too high in the limo or whatever. We’re not gonna ding a lady for being human.
Elle Fanning in Armani Privé at “The Roads Not Taken” Premiere
Can we just press pause and say here? This girl doesn’t get as much credit as she should for so consistently hitting the high-end film festival red carpets of the world in some insanely haute lewks. She absolutely never fails to bring it.
This is fabulous, and it shows that she’s pretty comfortable bouncing back and forth between old-school romance and modern couture. It feels like a smart way of transitioning her career as she matures.
And we LOVE how the barrette keeps the whole look youthfully cute somehow.
