Miss Anya steps out in a vintage Bob Mackie, which naturally causes our estimation of her to ascend to stratospheric levels. It’s a gay thing.
But the real credit must go to her stylist Law Roach, who owns this gown as part of his private collection – and who saw the possibilities of someone like Anya wearing it. The styling here is perfect, playing into both the costumey elements of the design and her own doll-like features, while vaguely tipping its proverbial hat to the genre of film she’s promoting. She’s kind of working the same side of the style street as her colleague Lucy Boynton; a retro, pseudo-Victorian sort of chic – but without the “broken down doll” undertones. She looks more like a living fashion illustration or the heroine on some gothic horror novel cover.
