We kind of hate to subject a Siriano look to an IN or OUT given how long we’ve been writing about his work (longer than almost anyone else, we might add; from his first Project Runway challenge all the way up to today, thank you very much), but as much as we love the guy’s success – and most of his work – we’re not sure this one’s working at all. Then again, that might not be his fault.
We can see why she’d choose this suit. It’s not only got a retro 1960s quality about it without being too literal (perfect for promoting this show), it’s also very pink and sparkly (perfect for promoting this very pink and sparkly show). We think there’s just a bit too much going on with the design of the jacket, from the open neckline to the asymmetrical hem, but that’s the only design criticism we have. Looking at the runway shot, it’s clear this was envisioned as something slouchy and over-sized, not tight and fitted. We very much prefer that version, although we can understand why a ladystar might not choose something potentially embiggening for the red carpet. Even so, wearing this design tight doesn’t improve it, in our eyes.
How do your eyes see it? In other words…
