Gucci’s the only option on the style menu for the LACMA gala, which makes this feel distinctly like it was imposed on her, given her own style preferences, which tend to be a bit more streamlined and far less whimsical than this. To be fair, we’d say she’s working this look about as well as it can be worked. It’s not like it would look any less goofy on Elle Fanning, to whom it’s much better suited. But at least on her, it would feel more appropriate somehow; like something she’d actually choose to wear. Given Brie’s red carpet history (not to mention her facial expression) this fairly screams “I WAS TALKED INTO THIS.”

Get rid of the bow, the heart, and those awful luggage straps. Keep the sash. Otherwise, pass it to a Fanning.
