OH YES WE DID.
Kittens. You could not possibly have thought that we’d remain silent on the big gay story of the week: Ellen DeGeneres’ love of power and wealth. Or rather, that was our spin on it. One of them, anyway. Yes, we had things to get off our shapely, manly chests this week regarding Miss Ellen, whom we consider an icon and whose contributions to queer life and culture cannot be understated. But girlfriend really stepped in the shit this week. We’ll explain why sitting next to George W. Bush should not be considered a crime, but her response to it made matters exponentially worse. Darlings, we wrote one cynical-ass book about how venal and self-absorbed celebrities can be, so you shouldn’t be too surprised how this convo goes.
But before we get to all of that mess, we celebrate National Coming Out Day by reaching out to our queer siblings who are still on that journey and offering them words of support. Then we ramble a bit about some TV shows (current and upcoming), and then it’s off to the drag races with those fabulous BritQueens of Drag Race UK. You’ll get a mostly non-spoiler (nothing on the final ten minutes or so) discussion of the second episode, which queens we’re falling in love with, which queens have surprised us, and which queens represent the very best of British drag. We LOVE this show so far. And don’t forget: we’ll have a recap of episode one (which airs in the U.S. on LOGO tonight) up tomorrow.
So thank you once again for listening to our cartoon voices, dolls!
