Duchess Megs kept things sassily dressy-cazh for the latest outing on her royal tour.
And gosh, we don’t love it. We have been fairly accepting and supportive of her intention to do things her own way and define her role in a manner that makes her most comfortable. But for us, there’s no denying the sense that occasionally, she’s yanking (no pun intended) things a bit too much in a personal direction. What we mean is this: Don’t dress like Cathy Cambridge or Princess Diana or the Queen herself. We would never impose that kind of expectation on her. Dress as the American woman of color with a social justice passion you are, of course. But this is honestly too casual for a duchess making an official visit to a university. If she were visiting a women’s shelter or a youth group, we can see how a dress like this might make her feel more approachable and appropriate for the setting, but while this certainly isn’t any scandal, we wish a university visit didn’t look so “brunch with the girls.”
Aside from all that nose-wrinkling on our parts, we also don’t think it’s a good cut or color for her.
