You have to figure at this point, girlfriend’s just winking and laughing about it. Sometimes folks tell us we over-analyze celebrity promotional clothing choices and look for underlining meanings in their style efforts. To that we say “stuff and nonsense.” Because what does the choice of this frock for this event represent but a deep sense of self-awareness and a bit of a knowing smirk from this generation’s leading live Disney princess?
We really don’t think we’re overthinking this one. Miss Elle, with a looooooong history of princess gowns under her style belt (so to speak), just said to hell with it and tied the biggest pinkest bow in the universe around herself and called it good. It’s a silly, frivolous sort of look and she chose exactly the right time and place for it. It’s got that stagey, costumey quality that makes it not-so-great for a red carpet, but perfect for coming out and doing a little P.R. like a good Company Woman.
Halle Bailey, the gauntlet has been thrown down. When you’re doing your Ariel tour, Miss Elle expects to see you topping this.
