Style File: Zendaya at Paris Fashion Week

It’s no surprise at all to us that this appears to be the summer where Zendaya makes a big fashion splash. She’s always been adept at using fashion to further her career or brand, but with both a hot HBO series and a Marvel movie dropping in the same month, Miss Woman’s been turning it out on a whole new level.

Here’s what we mean. This would appear, at first glance, to be not that big a deal as far as fashion goes, but when you really look at this, you can see that the top and the pants are both shaped really weirdly and not at all in a way that coordinates well for most people. In short, girlfriend is pulling off the impossible-to-pull-off. That’s how you know she’s graduated to the big leagues. We love this on her, but the sheer tights and pumps don’t feel like the best way to finish off such a dramatic look.

This looks like something Shirley MacLaine would’ve worn to the Oscars circa 1978. Normally, that would be a compliment, but we don’t think this style really works all that well for her. It very much looks like a dance costume and the mismatched pinks are eyetwitch-inducing. It’s just not a great dress, even if it is a notably bold choice for her.
