Miss Nicole has … dialed back her style efforts, let’s say. Not that we would suggest she’s slacking off. It takes as much work to put boring or bad fashion on as good fashion a lot of the time. But these two looks have a distinctly perfunctory feel.
Nicole Kidman in Olivier Theyskens
Granted, our thoughts are almost certainly being influenced more by this dress than the next one, which is perfectly fine. This, however, is a wrinkled mess in a harsh color with an overly fussy design to it, all of which combine to make it look kind of cheap. We’re confused by the red sandals.
Nicole Kidman in Ermanno Scervino
This is fine. It’s actually a pretty nice-gown. We’re big meanies, but the underdone hair is what’s giving this the feel of an afterthought. We probably wouldn’t be this nitpicky with someone else, but whatever else you can say about Nicole Kidman’s style choices, one thing that’s always been consistent is her attention to details. Between the laid-back styling and that previous hideous dress, this just doesn’t feel like a well-styled promo jaunt; not according to the normal Kidman standards.
