Kittens! We’re back from a short vacation and absolutely BESIDE OURSELVES because we have left you bereft of opinionating options on the matter of celebrity promotional fashion! That is to say, no bitchy red carpet posts for you! However did you cope during this long, dry season in your lives?

To help encourage you to wade back into the deep and cooling waters of hardcore fashion judgment, we’re presenting Miss Margot up for consideration and we have two reasons for doing so. First, because she never fails to give you something to take in and second, because she went retro for this one, which we expected, but not in the manner we would have predicted.

No Sharon Tate drag. Not really. She went a bit more literal with her homages on the film festival circuit, but for this premiere, she opted for a slightly period-appropriate Hollywood glamour. This is a bit more Stepford wife than Valley of the Dolls, but it’s all in that Hollywood circa 1970 realm – which suits her beautifully, of course. At least we think so. We’re throwing this one out to a vote because you kittens deserve some floor time and the passing of the Judgment Stick but also because we’re wondering if you love or hate the orange eye shadow. We love it. It’s deliberately not Tate’s signature eye look, which is partly why we like it. But it’s also fun and glamorous in a slightly unexpected way. The gown is pretty, but fairly simple, which is the way to go when you’re sorting those eyes. But as much as we like the play of heavy makeup with simple white romanticism, we wonder if y’all are gonna say she’s looking like The Joker in a dress. Let’s hear it, dolls.

Margot Robbie’s Wild-Eyed Retro:

IN or OUT?

We’ll have a review of this up soon. In short: It wasn’t unexpected, but it was more than we expected.
