While it doesn’t look like the new Shaft movie is something we’d go for and most of the style choices here would be almost totally unworkable for us, we can at least recognize the superior efforts on display here. Not only did these three generations of Shaftness show up in style, but the styles are all distinct to each of them and yet it all feels very coordinated.
In other words, they actually come off like three generations of the same family.
Jessie T. Usher
Samuel L. Jackson
Richard Roundtree
Personally, we’re feeling Samuel L. Jackson’s look the most. Love the leather collar and the muted blue. Jesse gets point for some eye-popping formalwear but that’s a wallpaper tux. As for Richard Roundtree, we are not about to tell the OG bad motherfucker that his pants are a bit too long.
“Millennials are wimps” is such an odd fit for a Shaft movie.
